Mrs. Maude Davis Johnson, 87, of 110 Keith Ave., Rockingham died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. She was born in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Mattie Campbell Davis.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Cordova United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was active with the United Methodist Women.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Johnson’s life will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2 at Cordova United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Milford Oxendine and Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. Entombment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her children: Zoe Johnson of Rockingham, Donald Johnson and wife Virginia of Clover, SC, Diane J. Edwards and husband Wayne of Rockingham, Kay Johnson – Smith and husband Del of Charlotte, and Robin J. Taylor and husband Rev. William of Ellerbe; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Davis of Huntsville, AL. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Walker F. Johnson in 1987 and two sons, Walker “W.F” Johnson in 2001 and Kenneth Eugene “K.J.” Johnson in 2005.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
