FirstHealth holding youth summer
basketball camp
The FirstHealth Center for Health & Fitness will hold two summer basketball camp sessions for boys and girls ages 6-18. The first session is June 15 through 19 from 8 a.m. to noon. The second session is July 13 through 17 from 8 a.m. to noon. The camp fee is $50. For more information, contact coaches Nellie and Frank Harrington at 895-6444.
Spring volleyball tournament planned
The Hamlet Church of God of Prophecy will have a spring volleyball tournament June 13 beginning at 9 a.m.
The tournament is limited to the first 12 teams.
The entry fee is $25 per team.

athletic physicals
Physicals to play sports in Richmond County Schools are scheduled for June 7 at the Richmond Senior High School cafeteria.
Doors will open at 8 a.m. and close at 9 a.m. Student-athletes are required to have their school I.D. badge.
The cost is $10 per student-athlete and checks can be made payable to Richmond Senior High School. The physical is good for the 2009-2010 school year.
Student-athletes should bring any medical releases in writing, as well as any pre-existing medical condition such as heart conditions, concussions, surgery in the past year or asthma or allergic conditions.
Parents are encouraged to accompany the student-athlete, but if unable to attend, then a signed permission note to participate is required at the time of the physical.

Richmond to hold soccer camp
The seventh annual Richmond Senior High School soccer camp is scheduled for June 29 - July 2 for children from 6- to 18-years-old.
The camp will be held on the school’s practice fields.
The cost is $65 for one child, $55 for two children in the same family and $45 for three children in the same family.
Applications are available at Sports World, Hibbett Sports and the high school’s front desk.

Basketball camp scheduled for RSHS
The 19th annual Richmond Senior High basketball camp is scheduled for June 15-18 for children 6-to-12-years-old. The cost is $45 for early registration prior to June 10. After June 10, the cost is $60 per participant. Applications are available at the school and at Sportsworld. For more information contact Richmond coach David May at 997-9812.
Golf tournament to benefit schools
The Richmond County Schools Education Foundation will hold the third annual Educators Golf Tournament at National Golf Club in Pinehurst on June 15. The cost is $100 per player, and the entry fee includes lunch, dinner, player gift bag, green fees, cart fees, range balls, beverages, and a golf shirt. You must be at least 21 years old to play and the entry deadline is June 1.
Registration forms can be picked up at the Richmond County Schools Central Office in Hamlet or you may request a form by calling 582-5860. Registration will also take place at tournament beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Day Camp accepting registrations
The City of Rockingham Parks and Recreation is accepting registration for the 2009 Summer Day Camp program that is scheduled to begin June 15 and conclude on Aug. 14. Camp will not be in session June 29 through July 3.
The cost of the camp is $60 per week, with additional $6 for insurance for the first week only. The camp will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To register or for more information contact Parks and Recreation at 895-6810. A deposit is required at the time of sign up.
Rockingham taking swimming

The city of Rockingham Parks and Recreation is accepting registrations for the 2009 summer swimming program.The classes will be divided into two sessions and are as followed: First session will run from June 15-26 and second session will start July 6-17. Age breakdown and class times are as followed: 10-years-old and above (9 to 11 a.m.), 7-9 years-old (10 to 11 a.m.), 4-6 years-old (11 a.m. to noon). Lessons cost $40 per session.
