Billy James Smith, nickname “Jr.” of Hamlet, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the age of 37.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Tommy Leviner and Alex Leviner. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Billy was born August 24, 1971 in Richmond County, son of William “Billy” Ray Smith and Reggie English Smith. He worked as a machinist with Sandhills Cylinder Head. He was an avid outdoorsman, a NASCAR racing fan and enjoyed golf and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea Thompson Smith; his son, Ryan James Smith and daughter, Emily Brooke Smith all of the home; his parents, Billy and Reggie Smith of Hamlet; a brother, Timothy Smith of Hamlet; sisters, Tina Williams and Teresa Smith both of Hamlet; nieces and nephews, Tyler Smith, August Smith, Summer Williams, Dakota Williams, Austin Grooms, Caroline Smith, Rusty Smith, Alexis Smith and Kelsey Smith.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

The family request in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Smith Family at P.O. Box 1913, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
