Deputies of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Vice/Narcotics Unit, recently cut down 3,450 marijuana plants found growing west of Norman, Capt. J. K. Glidewell said.

He said they were all small plants and had not matured to full value.

A Robbins man who rents the property involved called the sheriff’s department when he suspected plants growing there might be marijuana.

Deputies discovered 40 plants next to a fence in the front yard.

At the back of the property, deputies discovered some 3,410 more plants.

Glidewell said the former occupants of the residence were already serving terms in prison.

There have been no other occupants for the past month and a half, he said.
