Mrs. Catherine Evans Brigman, 87, of Pence Street, Rockingham died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

She was born June 8, 1921 in Richland Co., SC, a daughter of the late John and Ruth Derrick Evans. Mrs. Brigman was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker and prior to disability was employed with Safie Mill.

Funeral services will be conducted graveside 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30th at Eastside Cemetery with Rev. Horace Moree officiating.

Surviving is her husband of sixty-eight years, Claude Brigman of the home; her children, Linda Terry, Sam Brigman, and Cathy McDuffie, all of Rockingham; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Smith of Hamlet, Ernest Evans of Rockingham, Evelyn Campbell of Mount Airy, J.D. Evans of Rockingham, and Priscilla Simmons of Petersburg, VA.

Mrs. Brigman was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Asmond Evans, Lawson Evans, Mutt Evans, Paul Evans, T.J. Evans, Marvin Evans, Ollie Evans, and Patricia Evans.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the McDuffie home, 418 Zion Church Rd., Rockingham.
