Americans fear terrorists for a good reason

To the Editor:

A recent letter which accused Bush/Cheney of lying also expressed concern about America’s fear of terrorists.

Keep in mind that the intelligent are cautious, the brave do what needs to be done despite fear, and those with a lack of intelligence possess a lack of fear when danger approaches.

Americans fear terrorists for good reason.

The participants of the 9/11 bombing trained under the Clinton administration and despite 1996 warnings were not caught.

A recent terrorist attack plan was hatched here in a USA prison, a year ago, when a terrorist solicited the help of other prisoners. The Bush/Cheney administration learned of the attack and took steps to thwart it. There is danger in housing terrorists in American prisons.

And what did Bush/Cheney lie about? I’m assuming the writer meant WMDs. I will relay the facts and readers can draw their own conclusions.

Bill Clinton, On Dec. 19, 1998: said: “Earlier today, I ordered America’s armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. Their mission is to attack Iraq’s nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.... Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.”

George Bush said Jan. 28, 2003: Year after year, Saddam Hussein has gone to elaborate lengths, spent enormous sums, taken great risks, to build and keep weapons of mass destruction. But why? The only possible explanation - the only possible use he could have for those weapons is to dominate, intimidate or attack. With nuclear arms or a full arsenal of chemical and biological weapons, Saddam Hussein could resume his ambitions of conquest in the Middle East and create deadly havoc in that region.”

And the Senate agreed – with both presidents.

Bonnie,

Call me crazy, but maybe you should focus your interests on those who currently pose a threat to this country and other countries. HMMMMMMM N. Korea maybe?

Or you could look at the Taliban and Al Qaeda, do whatever you must do to stop this ongoing effort to prove Bush and Cheney as the super duo who didn't put our country into this insane mess!

Here's a question for you, Bonnie. Exactly what are you trying to prove at this point?

But there were no nukes in Iraq, Bonnie.

And even though I think that it is the Iraqui people's business, I would have much preferred the reason for going in to be: "Saddam Hussein is an evil man whose regime tortures the innocent." While I think it is a nation's responsibility to overthrow tyranny (we did, after all), and they cannot grow to their full potential if someone is holding their hand. I think it would have been a better excuse than to proceed as Bush did out of pure stubbornness, having to be right, and having to justify his position as "the decider."

"The participants of the 9/11 bombing trained under the Clinton administration and despite 1996 warnings were not caught."

Bonnie, use some tact and responsibility there. You make it sound as if Clinton trained these men, or that his administration did.

I mean, if you really want to go that route, Osama Bin Laden cut his teeth under the Reagan administration when they were getting all of the CIA and armed services help to assist the Afghanis in kicking out the then Soviets.

The term fearful depends on one's definination of the word. The dictionary defines the word fearful as causing fear, afraid, showing fear, etc. I have know a number of fearful people( People who were always afraid) in my life. I have never know one who was very intelligent; I have never know one who was brave, nor acted wisely in a crises situation. They panic, and often create panic and pandemonium in society! What we commonly call overreacting. This is certainly not my defination of an intelligent person! Intelligent people keep a cool head in a crisis situation! Think things through and act as swiftly as possible. That certainly is not my description of Geo. Bush nor Cheney!

You're right on the money....Bonnie, thank you for your letters of fact.

The House, Senate and NANCY PELOSI agreed with Pres. Bush on the invasion of Iraq.

Go ask the people in Lebanon what Hamas did to them....they TOOK their country !

Keep up the good work Bonnie, you'd be surprised at the number of people who agree with you.

Bocephus, you know that Sadam moved his nukes and WMD to Israel right. I'm not joking. I stopped one lousy minute and I came to the conclusion that Sadam is actually a Jewish. I saw a photo of him on Fox news during passover and sure enough it was Sadam. So your right Bocephus he did move his WMD's. Here's my view on Bush; he's working with Bonnie to take over the world...point blank.

More letters and comments from the republican and religious extremists. Just what this country needs! What happened to your patriotism? John McCain said it best when he said Cheney needds to shup up (paraphrasing) on a tour to defend himself and G.Bush on water boarding among other actions that they took while in office. Seventy five % of the American people believe that water boarding is torture. This statement by Wheeler is in the same category. Bonnie you are the very best advertisement for the National Democrat party they could get.

Two factors should be considered here. Are they safe(from escape)in U.S. prisons? The answer is yes if they are put in maximum -security prisons. Second reason for not shipping them to Italy or other countries is, if they are in the U.S. then our government has control of them. If they are in Italy, I am not sure their prison system is as safe as ours and second what if the Italian government decides to give them a parole for good behavior after 5 years. Have you thought about that? A third reason which is less important but never the less a factor, how much is it going to cost the U.S. taxpayers to keep these prisoners in another country?

Ron, you are a big moron! You use any oppurtunity to trash Pres Bush. Do you ever ever ever stop one lousy minute to consider that Sadam moved those WMD's? No, you dont because you hate the republicans and mainly George Bush. I bet if the North Koreans start a war, you will find a way to blame Bush for that. We are in enough trouble anyway because bailout Obama put Hillary in charge. Like I said before Ron, You don't impress me. Most morons don't anyway! Good letter Bonnie!

Amazing, same old drivel.

Couple things Bonnie. Do you consider Benjamin Franklin to have been an ignorant person? Not enough intelligence to possess fear? "Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither?" What do you deserve, Bonnie? Why do you live in fear, Bonnie?

You own words make you out to be a twisted at the least. So Clinton bombed Iraq because he thought they possessed WMD's. By his own statement he targeted suspected WMD locations. Isn't that true?

Now take into account that George H. W. Bush bombe the daylights out of Iraq, and destroyed their army, navy, and airforce. That is two Presidents that destroyed Iraq's capability to defend itself.

There were no WMD's in Iraq and there were no Al Qaida terrorist in Iraq.

You lying President and Vice President started a war based on lies. They consider themselves to be Oil Men. They wanted control of the Iraqi Oil Fields. Their plan backfired just as their plans with Saddam Hussein back in the early 80's backfired.

Keep your doors locked and barred Bonnie. Load your gun and put it under your pillow. Never talk to anyone unless they are as lily white as you are, and by all means, make sure you listen to all the fear and hate mongering you can so you can maintain that anger you have deep within you.

Bush new there were no WMD's in Iraq

I'm just pleased that congress had the foresight to block Obama's attempt to import muslim terrorists into the continental U.S. Some of us have been trying to tell you all along that he is a muslim who supports the terrorist's agenda.
