Mr. Roy Otis Bowman, 76, of Rockingham, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 in Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab in Biscoe.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m. in the Bobby Lammonds Memorial Chapel in Russell-Marks Funeral Home.

Roy was born in Stuart, Virginia on January 12, 1933, son of the late Joe and Sally Pack Bowman. He was a retired roofer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Lib” Bowman, a son, Charles Bowman, and a daughter, Lisa Rogers.

He is survived by a son, Michael Bowman; two daughters, Kathy Bowman and Faye Mauldin; two sisters, Inez Lisenby and Mary Bowman; two brothers, Booker Bowman and Jesse Bowman; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Russell-Marks Funeral Home & Cremation Service, and at other times at the home of Bobby and Inez Lisenby, 124 Aslington St., Rockingham.
