Multiple criminal charges result in prison

A defendant in Richmond County Criminal Superior Court last week was sentenced to from three years and four months to four years in prison on multiple charges involving breaking and entering and theft.

Herbert David Harris Jr. entered pleas of guilty one count of felony larceny by an employee, seven counts of felony breaking and entering, one felony count of obtaining property by false pretense, one count of felony possession of stolen goods and four counts of felony larceny.

There were 65 other charges against him that were dismissed.

Harris was recommended for a work release program when eligible.

During last week’s term of court, a total of 171 cases were disposed of and involved 63 defendants. Sixteen of the defendants were either in Richmond County Jail or state prisons.

The next term of Richmond County Criminal Superior Court will be June 8.

In another case, Emanuel Billings pleaded guilty to two felony charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced to serve from six years and 10 months to nine years in prison.

Other judgments in superior court last week include:

n Myrna Ann Troxler pleaded not guilty to assault and battery and was found not guilty by a jury.

n Dexter Artrell Lindsey pleaded guilty to felony breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking and entering and was sentenced to from one year to one year and three months in prison.

n Jesse James Womble Jr. pleaded guilty to misdemeanor communicating threats and was sentenced to 30 days in prison.

n Antonio J. Salgado pleaded guilty to felony fleeing to elude arrest and assault on a government official and was sentenced to serve from eight to 10 months in prison. The sentence was suspended. He was to serve 45 days in jail and given credit for time already served.

n Napoleon Ellerbe pleaded guilty to two felony charges of breaking and entering and was sentenced to from six to eight months in prison, suspended.

n Michael Ray Covington pleaded guilty to felony maintaining a place for controlled substances and possession of cocaine and was sentenced to from 10 months to a year in prison, suspended.

n Gerald Wayne Crowley pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault on a female and was sentenced to 150 days in prison, suspended.

n Tyrea Alfred Gilmore pleaded guilty to misdemeanor maintaining a place for controlled substances and was sentenced to 45 days in prison, suspended.

n Brandon Tyler Armstrong pleaded guilty to possession of stolen goods and was sentenced to 45 days in prison, suspended.

n Travis Ronald Deese pleaded guilty to three felony charges of breaking and entering and one count of attempted breaking and entering and was sentenced to from one year and four months to one year and eight months in prison, suspended.

n Timothy Ray Holder pleaded guilty to being an habitual felon and five felony counts of breaking and entering and was sentenced to from six years and eight months to eight years and nine months in prison. The sentence was suspended. He was to serve three months in prison and given credit for time already served.

n Mark Todd McDonald pleaded guilty to felony assault by strangulation and was sentenced to from one year and three months to one year and six months in prison, suspended.

n Carson Ray Oxendine pleaded guilty to improper vehicle equipment and was fined $50 and costs of district court.

n Jorge Martin Reyes pleaded guilty to two counts of improper equipment and was fined $50 and costs of district court.

n Charles Joseph Strickland pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked and was sentenced to 60 days in jail and given credit for time already served. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor larceny and was sentenced to 120 days in prison, suspended.

n Darryl Antonio Wall pleaded guilty to felony assault by strangulation and was sentenced to from 10 months to a year in prison, suspended.
