The Mid-Southeastern Conference has just one team remaining in both the baseball and softball tournaments.

In softball, No. 1 seeded Richmond is the lone conference representative after the MSEC’s other four teams were eliminated without scoring a run Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Raiders (17-5) defeated Knightdale 3-0 and will face New Bern from the Coastal Conference in the second round. The Beats (14-7) knocked off Purnell Swett 5-0.

Scotland was shut out by New Hanover 2-0; Cape Fear beat Pinecrest 10-0; E.A. Laney defeated Jack Britt 6-0; and South View knocked off Hoke Co. 4-0.

In the baseball, the Scots (18-5) are the only remaining MSEC team after stopping Pine Forest 2-0 Tuesday night. Scotland will face Hoggard, the team which eliminated Richmond from the playoffs. Hoggard (19-4) beat South View 2-0 to advance. Pinecrest was beaten in its second round contest by J.H. Rose 11-5.

In the women’s soccer playoffs, New Hanover defeated Pinecrest 2-1 in overtime Tuesday. The Lady Patriots were the last MSEC team left in the draw.
