Former Hamlet Police Department Officer and Richmond County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Williams (left) recently accepted the award for officer of the year from the Southpoint-Oak Island Rotary Club. Williams is currently a sergeant with the Southport Police Department. Handing the award to WIlliams is Rotary Club member Rick Pierce.
