The Washington Street School 60-member chorus, The Singers Excel, recently presented performances of a musical program, “In this World Together,” to the PTO and student assembly. The program, written and directed by Mrs. Helen Alexander, featured choral as well as instrumental music and included soloists, narrators, dancers and Orff percussionists. The overture “The Constitution” from the musical, United We Stand, showcased the talents of students playing on percussion instruments using bass, alto and soprano metallophones, xylophones, glockenspiels, drums, tambourines, sleigh bells, claves, cabasas and guiros.
