NORFOLK, Va. — Charles B. (“C.B.”) Hunsucker, 87, passed away May 15, 2009, 5:50 p.m. at Norfolk General Hospital.

Born: March 16, 1922 in Ellerbe, NC to Charles B Hunsucker and Beulah Lee Stafford Hunsucker; C.B. served his country proudly. He was a World War II veteran and retired 30-year United States Navy Chief. While aboard the USS California at Pearl Harbor, he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Silver Star.

Mr. Hunsucker is survived by: two sons, Samuel Thomas Hunsucker and Garry Charles Hunsucker; three brothers: William (Bill) Hunsucker of Moore, SC, Robert (Bob) Hunsucker of San Antonio, TX, Reece Hunsucker Sr. of Charles City, VA; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: his wife Maxine Warner Hunsucker, a daughter, Gilda Gay Rowe, both parents, a brother, Bub Hunsucker of Chadburn, NC, and a sister, Agnes Lee of Newport News, VA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m, on Thursday, May 21 at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 818 Norview Ave (corner of Norview Ave & Tidewater Dr), Norfolk, VA. Funeral service and burial to be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22 at Rosewood Memorial Park Mausoleum, 631 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA.
