The fee permits a producer to become eligible for 2008 crop disaster assistance programs.
The fee is $100 per crop.

Eligibility will be for the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Program, emergency assistance for livestock, honeybees, farm-raised fish and the Tree Assistance Program.
Producers who meet the definitions of “socially disadvantaged, limited resource” or “beginning farmer or rancher” are not required to pay the buy-in fee.
