SANFORD — The Richmond women’s soccer team was shutout for the second straight contest, this time by Lee County 3-0 Friday night in a non-conference game.

The loss dropped the Lady Raiders’ overall record to 5-10-2.

The Lady Raiders have been shutout in their last two games after blanking Douglas Byrd 6-0 on Monday.

“After that offensive explosion, we had against Douglas Byrd, we haven’t been able to hit the broad side of the barn,” Lady Raiders coach Bennie Howard said. “Hopefully, we can get our offense back going in the next game.

“Lee County is a very aggressive and physical team, and they beat us up. I thought there were a couple times where the referee could have intervened. We had some people that played out of position, but they were the better team.”

The Lady Raiders return to the field at 7 p.m. Monday at Raider Stadium against Seventy-First.

n The Richmond junior varsity soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against Lee County on Friday. Brittany Covington scored the JV Raiders’ lone goal in the second half. Richmond’s record is now 3-5-3 on the season. The JV Raiders play their final game of the season at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at home against Hoke.
