Teens suspected of armed robbery

Two teenagers have been arrested by Rockingham police in connection with the armed robbery of a man walking on East Broad Avenue in Rockingham.

Rico Jokea Eddquarte Shelton, 16, Henderson; and Ryshawn Keyontai Diggs, 17, Leak Street, Rockingham, have each been charged with felony armed robbery. Bond for each is set at $25,000.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office assisted police with Deputy C. D. Williams and K-9 Blecky tracking a suspect to apartments on Cauthen Drive.

A victim was robbed of $195.

During the police investigation, the suspects were identified and came to the police department where they were charged.

In another armed robbery case, Ricky Everett Bady, 36, of Rockingham was arrested on felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and resisting, delaying and obstructing an arrest.

His bond was set at $25,000.

Deputy Sgt. Jeff Cagle and K-9 Falco tracked a suspect from a restaurant on East Broad Avenue, Rockingham, where an armed robbery was attempted. Cagle said Bady was fully under water in a creek when Falco located him.

Other arrests at the Rockingham Police Department include:

n Heletha Barbara Rodriguez, 25, Hunter Circle, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of communicating threats. She was released on a written promise to appear in court.

n John Michael Gribbins Jr., 31, Billy Covington Road, Rockingham, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and larceny. Bond was set at $1,000.

n Jennifer Miller Lynn, 25, Whitney Lane, Rockingham, was arrested on an order for arrest on a charge of driving while license revoked. Bond was set at $500.

n Zacchaeus Frie Covington, 23, Salisbury, was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor probation violation. He was held in Richmond County Jail until a judge set bond.

n Leroy Roach Jr., 46, Patterson Road, Rockingham, was arrested on felony charges of possession of Schedule II drugs and maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, a headlight violation and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. Bond was set at $3,500.

n Ellis Alexander Fletcher, 53, Patterson Road, Rockingham, was arrested on a felony charge of possession of Schedule II drugs and misdemeanor having an open container of alcohol. Bond was set at $2,500.

n Shawanda Swinnie, 19, Cauthen Drive, was arrested on an order for arrest from Union County on a charge of misdemeanor larceny. Bond was set at $1,000.

n Donald Lee Wall, 50, Azie Drive, Rockingham, was arrested on felony charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell or deliver, possession of Schedule II controlled substances and maintaining a place for controlled substances; and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Bond was set at $20,000.

n Clarence Edward Wall, 41, Friend Street, Rockingham, was arrested on a citation for a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Information on criminal activity may be reported anonymously to Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 997-5454. When leading to arrests, rewards are offered for such information.

n Arrest reports published in the Richmond County Daily Journal are copied from local law enforcement records. Except for people injured in motor vehicle accidents or reportable deaths, victims including people, businesses and institutions and their addresses are not included as a matter of newspaper policy. Reports include both arrests and criminal summons such as citations. The Daily Journal lists them all as arrests. People charged are presumed innocent until determined to be guilty by a court of law.
