He said no one has to contact the VA or any other agency to receive the check.
Recipients should have a check by the end May. If not, contact should not be made with an agency to find out why not only after June 4 at (800) 772-1213 or TTY at (800)325-0778.
Veterans currently receiving benefits will get their checks from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Information can be obtained from www.va.gov.
All other checks will come from the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
The law provides the payment for certain individuals who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Railroad Retirement and the Veterans benefits.
Social Security and SSI checks will be sent separately from monthly benefit checks in the same manner as now being received either by check of direct deposit.
There is only one $250 payment regardless of how many types of benefits one receives.
Both spouses receiving Social Security checks will each receive a recovery check.
Children receiving Social Security benefits are not eligible for a recovery check. Children receiving SSI are eligible. Disabled adult children will receive checks.
The recovery checks are not taxable as income.
Recipients must be in good standing with agencies to receive the checks.

The law requires the Department of the Treasury to deduct delinquent child support and debts owed to state and federal agencies from the recovery payment.
Martin said no one should provide any personal information to anyone contacting them by telephone calls or e-mails regarding the recovery payments.
