It was the second such case in a week at the jail.
Two inmates have been arrested for an incident involving a third inmate who was trying to sleep .
They “jumped on him started hitting him and tried to take his money,” Capt. J .K. Glidewell said.
Jimmy Jermaine Williams, 23, Caroline Street, Rockingham; and Dexter Artrell Lindsey, 19, Washington Avenue, Hamlet, were each arrested on charges of felony attempted common law robbery and misdemeanor assault and battery. Bond for each was set at $10,000.
Last week another inmate was arrested on the same type of charges when he allegedly assaulted and attempted to rob another inmate.

Incidents reported to the sheriff’s office include:
n On Patton Street, Dobbins Heights, someone stole a check for $6,168.80 and $340 cash from a house.
n Tools valued at $100 were stolen from a vehicle parked at a house on Boyd Lake Road, Hamlet.
n Checks were taken from a house on U.S. 1, South, Rockingham, without permission and two were forged and cashed for $40 and $45.
n A woman reported that a suspect pushed her down at a house on Yates Hill Road, Rockingham, and she struck her head on furniture.
n A dirt bike valued at $2,000 was stolen from a building on Northam Road, Rockingham, and $100 damage done to the building. The bike was recovered during the investigation.
n In an open area at the Pee Dee River Dam on Blewett Falls Road, Rockingham, someone did $75 damage to a trailer and stole the license tag from it.
n At a house on 2nd Street, Ellerbe, someone did $250 damage to a mobile home window and stole a $200 phone.
n Jewelry valued at $4,390 was stolen from a house on Southwood Drive, Rockingham.
n Someone backed into two vehicles parked at a business on U.S. 220 North, Rockingham causing $700 damage to one and $400 damage to the other.
n A lawn mower valued at $100 was stolen from a yard on Airport Road, Rockingham.
n A phone valued at $10 was stolen from a house on Broad Street, Hamlet.
n A lawn mower valued at $190 was stolen from a house on Hickory Street, Rockingham.
n Someone did $400 damage to a vehicle parked on open land on U.S. 220 North, Ellerbe.
n A suspicious fire was reported when pine cones on a truck parked on County Home Road, Rockingham, caught on fire.
n Two tires on a vehicle parked on Midway Road, Rockingham, were cut causing $160 damage.
n A truck valued at $4,000 was taken without permission from a business on U.S. 220, Rockingham.
n A garden tiller valued at $1,000 was stolen from a house on Snead Avenue, Rockingham.
n At a house on E. V. Hogan Drive, Hamlet, someone kicked in the front door causing $200 damage and stole $50 worth of prescribed medications.
n On Pine Cone Drive, Ellerbe, a woman was assaulted when a suspect pulled her hair and punched her.
n On Graham Street, Hamlet, a victim told deputies a suspect grabbed her by an ankle and twisted it.

Incidents reported to the Rockingham Police Department include:
n Two people were injured in a motor vehicle accident on East Broad Avenue and Broad Street Plaza, Rockingham at 2:18 p.m. April 17.
Injured were the drivers of each vehicle, Donnell Buie, 45, Page Street, Rockingham; and Odis Lynn Taylor, 40, 9th Street, Aleo. Rockingham. Both were taken to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.
Buie was cited for failure to see before starting. His 2006 Ford received $1,000 damage; Taylor’s 1991 Ford, $3,000.
n A Steele Street, Rockingham, reported someone obtained $4700 from a bank card account without permission.
n While shopping at a store on Fayetteville Road, Rockingham, a woman said someone stole her pocketbook from her vehicle for a loss of $60 plus a Social Security card and food stamps.
n On Gore Drive, Rockingham, someone did $405 damage to property of a residence.
n At a business on East Broad Avenue, Rockingham, someone stole $15 worth of merchandise.
n A handgun valued at $160 was stolen from a house on Richmond Road, Rockingham, along with checks.
n Carson Billy Love, 41, Morven, was issued a citation on a charge of shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia.
n From a store on U.S. 1 South, Rockingham, someone stole $35.99 worth of beer.
n Vincent Price Legrand, 39, Palisades Circle, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of larceny. Bond was set at $500.
n Marie Roberta Pate, 35, Palisades Circle, was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor larceny and on an order for arrest on a charge of violating a court order. Bond was set at $5,500.
n At a house on Cauthen Drive, Rockingham, Daniel Lamont Short, 22, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault and battery and injury to personal property. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
n At a store on East Broad Avenue, suspects stole $95.51 worth of property which was recovered after arrests were made.
n Shalena Lewis, 23, U.S. 1 South, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of larceny. Bond was set at $500.
n Josette Lewis Nicholson, 41, Airport Road, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of larceny. Bond was set at $500.
n An employee of a store on East Washington Street, Rockingham, stopped a suspect leaving the store with $35.05 worth of steaks and recovered them. After handing over the steaks, the suspect drove off.
n At a business on East Washington Street, Rockingham, someone did $800 damage to doors and stole $4,500 worth of property.
n Kenneth Franklin Battley, 46, McLean Street, Hamlet, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of driving while impaired, reckless driving, possession of Schedule III controlled substances, failure to head blue lights and siren and possession of Schedule IV controlled substances. Bond was set at $1,000.
n At a store on West Greene Street, Rockingham, someone stole $15 worth of cat food and $6 worth of dog food.
n Gasoline valued at $33.07 was stolen from a store on East Broad Avenue.
n Shawn Garrison, 35, Old Laurinburg Road, Hamlet, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of larceny. Bond was set at $1,000.
n Alex Keith Bullard, 30, Boyd Lake Road, Hamlet, was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor larceny. Bond was set at $1,000.
n Randall Hunt, 25, Bunker Street, Rockingham, was arrested on a warrant from Scotland County for failure to appear in court on charges of driving while license revoked and failure to wear a seat belt. Bond was set at $100.
n Kamia Lachelle Sloan, 31, Montclair Avenue, Rockingham, was issued a citation for simple possession of marijuana and failure to wear a seat belt.
n Anthony Lamont Cheek, 25, Asheboro, was issued a citation for carrying a concealed weapon, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. During issuing the citation, the arresting officer seized two handguns valued at $200, handgun ammunition magazines, ammunition, cigars and a baton.
n Jeremy Terell Flores, 22, Chance Drive, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree trespass. Bond was set at $2,500.
