Man, 42, stabbed, robbed in Hamlet

A victim being treated at Sandhills Regional Medical Center told Hamlet police he was assaulted, stabbed and robbed walking home from a store.

After leaving a store on King Street, Hamlet, a 42-year-old man said he was walking home toward Washington Street, Hamlet, when four men jumped on him hitting him with their hands and feet.

He told police it wasn’t until he got home that he realized he had been stabbed in his right leg by a knife one of the men was carrying. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Arrests by Hamlet police include:

n Devin Alexander Cross, 22, Sanbornton, New Hampshire, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of shoplifting. Bond was set at $500.

n Napoleon Latawn Ellerbe, 16, Ellen Drive, Hamlet, was arrested on a felony charge of breaking and entering a vehicle, and misdemeanor charges of larceny, giving fictitious information to an officer and carrying a concealed weapon. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for assault and battery. Bond was set at $7,500.

n Gerald Dean Maynor, 44, Hamlet Lake Court, Hamlet, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of second-degree trespass. Bond was set at $151.

n Jermaine Maurince Dryden, 26, Derby Road, Hoffman, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of making a harassing phone call and communicating threats. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.

n Teresa Marie Beckom, 30, Thomas Street, Hamlet, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of simple assault. She was held in Richmond County Jail until a judge set bond.

n Wendell Capel Jr., 34, Thomas Street, Hamlet, was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor assault on a female. He was held in Richmond County Jail until a judge set bond.

Incidents reported to Hamlet police include:

n At a residence on Lackey Street, Hamlet, someone broke into a parked vehicle and stole $850 worth of electronic equipment.

n Someone broke into a house on Ellen Drive, Hamlet, and stole three handguns valued at $100 each, an ammunition magazine valued at $70, a $250 digital camera, $80 cell phone, and $30 worth of ammunition.

n Yard lights valued at $36 were stolen from a residence on Hylan Avenue, Hamlet.

n On West Avenue, Hamlet, someone did $100 damage breaking a window.

n Gasoline valued at $26 was stolen from store on West Hamlet Avenue, Hamlet.

n A suspect did $2,600 damage to a car parked on High Street, Hamlet.

n Soap valued at $20 was stolen from a store on King Street, Hamlet.

n A vacuum cleaner valued at $150 was stolen from the back of a truck parked in a lot on West Hamlet Avenue.

n A boat valued at $100 was stolen from a yard on Greenfield Road, Hamlet.

n Damage estimated at $3,000 was done to a vehicle parked in a lot on West Hamlet Avenue.

Arrests by the Rockingham Police Department include:

n Lori Ann Taylor, 35, Little River, S.C., was arrested on a misdemeanor larceny charge. Bond was set at $500.

n Bobby Joe Buffkin, 35, Florence, S.C., was arrested on a charge of damage to property. Bond was set at $500.

n Michelle Nicole McLaurin, 29, Cauthen Drive, Rockingham, was arrested on warrants for failure to appear in court on charges of possession of stolen goods, failure to return rental property and disorderly conduct. Bond was set at $1,000.

n Someone stole $119.89 worth of items at a store at Falling Creek Park Shopping Center, Rockingham.

n A trombone valued at $660 was stolen from property on Wall Street, Rockingham.

n At a house on New Street, Rockingham, someone did $200 damage and stole an unknown amount of copper piping.

n Checks were stolen from a house on U.S. 74 East, Rockingham, and forged and cashed in the amounts of $100, $160 and $100.

n An electric wheelchair valued at $3,500 was stolen from a porch of a residence on Palisades Circle, Rockingham.

n On Goodman Street, Rockingham, someone did $200 damage to a window.

n At a house on Farmstead Court, Rockingham, someone did $60 damage to a door.

Incidents reported to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office include:

n Detectives are investigating a suspicious fire which did $75,000 damage to a house on Loch Haven Road, Rockingham.

n At a residence on U.S. 1 North, Rockingham, two men were caught trying to steal a $500 all-terrain vehicle and fled when confronted.

n A 32-year-old woman from McColl, S.C., told deputies she was on 1st Avenue, Aleo, Rockingham, when during an argument with a suspect she was cut several times on her right arm. She was taken to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital and treated.

n In the roadway along Military Lane, Rockingham, a 45-year-old man from Mizpah Road, Rockingham, said two men came up behind him while he was walking and hit and kicked him.

n The door of a house on Bennett Road, Ellerbe, was reported to have been pried open.

n Someone broke into an outbuilding on Baldwin Drive, Rockingham, doing $300 damage to the door and stealin $450 worth of property.

n On Baldwin Drive, someone stole $1,750 worth of power tools from a residence.
