Mrs. Ruth McDuffie Poplin, 87, 113 Page Street, Hamlet, NC, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Morrison Manor, Laurinburg, NC.

She was born February 10, 1922, in Stanley County daughter of T.L. McDuffie, Sr. and Bessie Mae Teal McDuffie.

Mrs. Poplin was a salesclerk for Belk before her retirement. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Harrington Funeral Home from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

A Memorial Service will be Monday, April 6, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 591 County Home Road Rockingham with Elvin Dycus officiating.

Mrs. Poplin is preceded in death by her late husband, H.C. Poplin, Sr. and a daughter, Gail M. Ervin.

Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn P. Kelly of Charlotte, NC and Sandra P. Seley of Alta Loma, California; son, Crowell Poplin, Jr. of the home; brother, T.L. McDuffie, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Ruby Drye of Albemarle, Nancy Eudy of Concord and Sylvia Sides of Albemarle; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
