Richmond County Schools have saved over $1.8 million in energy costs over the past five years.

The Richmond County Board of Education is set to accept an award for its energy program Tuesday night.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. at the Board of Education Office in the school district’s administrative offices in Hamlet.

The board will also be informed of the testing and retesting schedule for the end of the year, and have a Joint Oversight Committee Report presented by Richmond County Schools Director of Student Testing and Accountability Steve Lear.

The board is also set to hear an update on Saturday school from the principals of Richmond Senior High and Richmond County Ninth Grade Academy.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Robert Beck will present the board with a Safe Schools Plan, and Associate Superintendent Dr. Michael Perry will present the board with the LEA Strategic Plan.

Two budget amendments will be discussed and voted on by the board after RCS Chief Financial Officer Pam Satterfield explains them.
