Mr. John Winston Davis, Sr., 80, of 131 Champ Terry Road, Hamlet, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Sandhills Regional Medical Center, Hamlet.

He was born July 23, 1928, in Scotland County, son of Lonnie E. Davis and Susan Mable Terry Davis. Mr. Davis was a salesman for 18 yrs. at Z.V. Pate Hardware, before his retirement.

Visitation will be Friday, April 3, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Lester English and Rev. Mike Stirk officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.

Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his late wife, Virginia Averitt Davis, and a brother, Richard Wayne Davis.

Survivors include his daughter, Judy Davis Dean of Hamlet; sons, John W. Davis, Jr. and Lonnie Raymond Davis, both of Hamlet; sisters, Frances Ransom of McColl, SC, Jean Farris of Hamlet, Mary Hudson of Laurinburg and Janie Snipes of Hamlet; eleven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
