ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior softball team recorded 16 hits as it cruised to a 9-2 victory over West Montgomery Wednesday night.
Cierra Bowden, Bailey Coulthard, Ashton Davenport and Hunter Parks all registered three hits in the win. Parks picked up the pitching victory, allowing eight hits and both runs over four innings. Summer Jacobs hurled three scoreless innings for the Raiders.
“We faced a good pitcher today,” Richmond coach Wendy Wallace said. “We made some adjustments and it was encouraging to see them hitting.”
Richmond has now won three straight contests to improve to 6-2 on the season. The team will return to the diamond 7 p.m. Friday at Southeastern Conference foe Lumberton.
Richmond cruises to win
ROCKINGHAM — Cody Leviner and Brandon Gibson combined on a three-hitter as Richmond Senior stretched its winning streak to nine with an 11-1 victory over West Montgomery Wednesday night.
Jacob Sears was the lone Raider to recorded multiple hits in the contest as Richmond was limited to seven hits. However, the Raiders took advantage of four Warrior errors.
“We played with a modified lineup tonight because Jeremy (Smith) and Bradley (Brown) were out,” Richmond coach Ricky Young said. “Both of our pitchers threw well. I was hoping to get Brandon two innings, but we ended the game in the sixth.”
Richmond (9-1) will attempt to improve to 3-0 in Southeastern Conference play when it travels to Lumberton 7 p.m. Friday.
