Thieves disrupt home renovations

Work was being done on a house on McDonald Church Road, Rockingham, to improve it when thieves struck.

Someone, or some people, broke into the house and stole $10,250 worth of appliances and furnishings.

It was not the only place where thieves entered and stole items from properties in the county.

Also reported to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office were the following incidents:

n A vehicle valued at $8,500 was stolen from a resident on Smithfield Drive, Hamlet.

n A bicycle valued at $330 was stolen from a house n South Main Street, Ellerbe.

n Property valued at $2,377 was stolen from an outbuilding at a residence on Philadelphia Drive, Rockingham.

n At a building on Sandhill Road, Rockingham, someone stole a pressure washer valued at $750 and an air compressor valued at $450.

n A woman at a house on East Washington Street, Rockingham, told deputies she was assaulted.

n Someone did $10 damage to a screen at a house on McQueen Street, Rockingham.

In Rockingham, police arrested Michael James Blue, 49, Ellen Drive, Hamlet on a charge of misdemeanor larceny. Bond was set at $500.
