Harry ‘Butch’ Jones, 63, of 2012 Brookbank Rd., Rockingham died Friday, March 27, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born July 26, 1945 in Swannanoa, son of the late Harry and Dorothy Miller Jones.

Mr. Jones was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockingham. He was a trainman with CSX Transportation and the chairman and union representative for local chapter 1011 of the United Transportation Union. Mr. Jones was a Mason and a Shriner. He loved to play golf and was a handyman. Mr. Jones also served in the National Guard.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, March 30th at First Baptist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Dr. Lamar King officiating with Masonic rites to follow. Interment will be in Eastside cemetery.

Surviving is his wife, Tess Ann Smith Jones of the home; daughter, Jill Jones Emerson and husband Scott of Rockingham; sister, Brenda Jones Purcell of Rockingham, and a granddog, Casey Bud

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 N. Randolph St., Rockingham, NC 28379 or the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.

The Masonic Lodge will be open at 10 am Monday for all Masons participating in Mr. Jones’ service.
