Coy Leak, 85, of Rockingham, died March 23, 2009.

He was born Aug. 27, 1924 in Rockingham, son of the late Adam Leak and Letisha Gales Leak. Coy was a World War II veteran. He was a softball and baseball coach, served as a Master Mason, and was a member of Poplar Hill Lodge 331 for over 50 years.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at New Diggs Chapel AME Zion Church, Rockingham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be held Friday from 1-7 p.m. and the family hour from 7-8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, Rockingham.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: John, R.J., Odis, and Lillie Mae and Grace.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Thelma Gould Leak; four children, Barbara Patterson of Adelphi, Md., Jimmy Leak of Rockingham, LaSandra Leak of Laurinburg, Rev. Vernard R. Leak, Lawrenceville, N.J.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Willie Adam Leak of Irvington, N.J.

Nelson Funeral Service of Rockingham is in charge of services.
