FOREST, Va. — Former Richmond Senior standout Casey Snead was selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s pitcher of the week it was announced Monday afternoon.

In her first collegiate start for Guilford College, Snead set a school record by striking out 16 Bwynedd-Mercy batters. The previous mark was 15, by Jessica Burcham in 2011. Snead struck out the side in three different innings and did not allow a base runner past second after the first inning. She also recorded her first save on Feb. 20 in a 4-3 win over William Peace.

Jones, Williams selected to all-star game

GREENSBORO — Richmond Senior football players Taivon Jones and Robert Williams were named to the East-West All-Star football game. Jones and Williams will play for the East team, which will be led by Randy Raper from Hunt.

This year’s contest is slated for 8 p.m. July 24 at A.J. Simeon Stadium in High Point. The game is traditionally contested at Grimsley High School’s Jamieson Stadium in Greenboro however construction forced the temporary move.
