Dear Editor,

It just shows that you never really know.

After spending 28 years of my adult life training and responding to fire department emergencies in the Derby area, I found others who have done the same coming to my family’s aid in an emergency capacity.

I would like to acknowledge and profoundly thank the Mountain Creek Fire Dept., Ellerbe Rescue Squad, FirstHealth Ambulance, Moore Regional Hospital, Carolinas Medical Center Air Care and Hospital and county and state law enforcement for the caring and professional manner in which they responded to the terrible car cash involving my nephew, his young son and the daughter of friends.

The effort that was made by all these good people represents a tremendous asset to our community. It shows how well trained people working together in a crisis can manifest in a positive outcome.

The many hours of training and dedication of all these individuals is more than most can imagine and I appreciate each and every one.

We should all be proud to live within a community of such people with these high levels of capabilities.

Everyone lived, will heal and go forward with life, the outcome could have been different.
