FAYETTEVILLE — The Richmond women’s soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-0 victory over Douglas Byrd in a Mid-Southeastern Conference contest Wednesday.

“It was good to get a win under our belt, and hopefully this will build some confidence,” Lady Raiders coach Bennie Howard said.

Brittany Hudson scored first to give Richmond (2-4, 2-2 MSEC) a 1-0 lead. Rebecca Brand scored the second goal from an assist by Katelyn Warmuth, while Amparo Mollinedo’s tally made it 3-0 at intermission.

Stephanie Martin wrapped up the scoring with a second half goal on Warmuth’s second assist of the game.

According to Howard, the Lady Eagles failed to attempt a shot on goal against Richmond’s starting keeper Elyssa Rivera. With around 12 minutes left to play in the contest, Rivera was replaced in the nets by backup Brittany Roberts.

“It was a better effort than the other night against Pinecrest, but we still have got a long ways to go,” Howard said. “It was good that everybody received some playing time in the game.”

The Lady Raiders next game is at 7 p.m. Monday against Scotland at Raider Stadium.
