The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office made the following recent arrests:

Shirley Covington, 57, of Hummingbird Drive, Rockingham, was arrested on outstanding warrants for selling prescription pills. Covington was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Carmen Marie Ireland, 55, of Green Street, Hamlet, was arrested on outstanding warrants on two counts of selling marijuana. Ireland was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Quentin Jamar McKenzie, 25, of Hood Street, Rockingham, was arrested on outstanding warrants for selling marijuana. McKenzie was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Jimmy Edward Chavis Jr., 34, of Mill Street, Rockingham, was arrested on outstanding warrants for selling crack cocaine. He is also charged with felony flee to elude arrest. He was placed under a $25,000 secure bond.

Hakeem Lamont Byrd, 18, of Sandhill Road, Rockingham, was arrested on outstanding warrants for shooting into a residence on Mizpah Road. He was placed under a $10,000 secure bond.

Rusty Lee Brayboy, 26, of Shaw Lane, Rockingham, was arrested on outstanding warrants for breaking into a residence on Shaw Lane on Jan. 9 and later selling the property at a local pawnshop. He was placed under a $2,000 secure bond.

Nicole Lynn Blake, 22, of Carlisle Avenue, Ellerbe, and Steven Junior Crouch, 25, of Little Street, Rockingham, were arrested. Blake was arrested on Jan. 14 on outstanding warrants for the larceny of a firearm and larceny of assorted coins Jan 13. Crouch was charged with the theft on Jan. 16 and attempting to sell marijuana to officers. Crouch fled on foot and was arrested a short time later, lawmen said. Blake was released on a written promise to appear and Crouch was arrested and placed under a $50,000 secure bond.

Lawrence Henry Dawson, 53, of York Road, Fayetteville, and Tyrik RayShoan McLean, 18, of Fletcher Avenue, Red Springs, were arrested for the larceny of an utility vehicle on Bennett Road in Ellerbe. The two fled and were caught a short time later, lawmen said. Dawson was charged with several other crimes related to break-ins on Clayton Carriker Road, the theft of utility trailers on Derby Road and Savannah Lane, a four-wheeler from Hwy 73 W., power tools from Cora Simmons Lane, zero turn mowers from Crawford Road and a tractor and generator from Sandhills Game Management Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Dawson was arrested and placed under a $150,000 secure bond. McLean was charged with assisting Dawson on several of the thefts. McLean was placed under a $35,000 secure bond.

Walter Lee Ellerbe Jr., 41, of Hawkins Lane, Rockingham, Rodney Jarvis Everette, 24, of Derek Street, Rockingham, Quentin Antonio Wall, 27, of Westwood Drive, Rockingham, Devin Lee Terrell Tillman, 22, of Tillman Road, Rockingham, and Woodrow Hawkins, III, 37, of Hawkins Lane, Rockingham, were arrested after several months of illegal drug activity investigation in the “Little Philly” and “Piney Grove” communities, the Sheriff’s Office said. The investigation netted 676 grams of crack cocaine and a stolen firearm. Ellerbe, Tillman and Wall have been indicted in the Middle District of N.C. federal court and are being held without bond. Everette was placed under a $150,000 secure bond and Hawkins was placed under a $100,000 secure bond.

Arrest reports published in the Richmond County Daily Journal are copied from local law enforcement records. Reports include both arrests and criminal summons such as citations. The Daily Journal lists them all as arrests. People charged are presumed innocent until determined to be guilty by a court of law.
