A teenager has been arrested by the Hamlet Police Department on charges involving marijuana, said Chief John Haywood.
Joshua Lynn Starling, 18, Rockingham, was arrested on a felony charge of possession of marijuana; and misdemeanor resisting, delaying and obstructing an arrest. His bond was set at $10,000.
During the arrest, police seized two pounds of marijuana packaged in brick form and a quantity of cash.
Haywood said he witnessed Starling allegedly making a drug transaction.
When Starling fled on foot, Haywood said he chased and apprehended him.
He said he found the seized items with Starling.
Assisting Haywood were Lt. Scott Waters, Sgt. Richard Jordan and Officer Josh Churmack.
