Thurman Leon “Hambone” Norton, 69, of Shallotte, died, Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at his residence.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Harrington Funeral Home, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 2 p.m., with Mark Norton officiating.

At other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of his daughter, Rhonda Clark, 455 Mill Road, Rockingham.

He was born in Scotland County, June 4, 1943, son of Walker Norton and Alice Phillips Norton. Norton owned and operated, Norton Maintenance Company. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Carolyn Deedle and Helen Blue.

Survivors include his daughters, Rhonda Clark and Tina Outlaw both of Rockingham, and Donna Norton of Hamlet; brother, Bobby Norton of Charlotte; sisters, Janice Cooper and Dorothy Woodard both of Laurel Hill, and Joyce Swanner of Wagram; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
