William Michael Hatcher, 52, of Hamlet, died Friday, March 20, 2009 at Sandhills Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 7, 1956 in Chester County, South Carolina, a son of Christine B. Hatcher and John H. Hatcher. In his early years he played guitar with the Eastern Seaboard Band and with Billy Joel Royal. Recently he played with the Dixie Ambush for over 12 years.

Surviving are his mother, Christine B. Hatcher, of Hamlet; father, John H. Hatcher, of Chester, SC; brother, Wayne Hatcher, of Lowrys, SC; and maternal grandmother, Zella Barnes, of Rockingham.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Rockingham with Rev. Al Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham, and at other times at the home of Bill Barnes, 150 Forrest St. Rockingham, NC 28379.
