Christmas carols and popular holiday tunes will fill the air at Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines when The Murphy Family takes the stage for a holiday concert on Dec. 21.

Popular, hometown musician, Paul Murphy, will be joined by his wife and children to present a Christmas concert featuring a potpourri of music. Representing an array of musical genres, this talented family can and will do it all- from jazz to spiritual hymns to Brazilian Bossa to today’s hits.

Murphy, a minister and professional musician, will be performing saxophone and piano. His wife, Sharon, and 23 year-old daughter, Anna, will both perform vocals and so will their youngest son Greene, 12. But the audience is in for a real special treat when sons Drake, 28, and Kent, 26, who currently work together as composers and music producers for artists throughout the US, Japan, Korea, Holland and New Zealand, round out the family act with vocals, guitar and keyboard.

Additionally, Larry Arnold will be on bass and Gary brown will play drums and piano.

The concert will start promptly at 7:30 p.m. at Sunrise Theater in downtown Southern Pines. Tickets are $20 for VIP seats (first six rows), $15 for general admission and $10 for children 12 and younger. Tickets can be purchased online at www.sunsrisetheater.com or though the administrative office at 910-692-8501. They will also be sold at the door while supplies last. All proceeds from this concert go to support the Sunrise Theater Digital Cinema Campaign.

The Sunrise Theater is a not for profit organization located at 250 N.W. Broad Street in Southern Pines.
