Local church honors veterans

Veterans of all armed forces of the U.S. were honored in a special ceremony at First United Methodist Church of Hamlet on Veteran's Day. The church's rolls included 22 veterans and three currently serving men. As part of the ceremony, Marine veteran Eddie Martin offered a prayer and veterans were recognized by Administrative Board Chairman Bill Cleveland. A memento was presented by Ann Mercer. 
Veterans honored were Gene Blakely, Martin Brown, Ken Burnett, Curtis Byrd, Hobby Cato, Charles Edmunds, Marsha Fowler, Carroll Garner, Ron Gulledge, Jackie Hatfield, Larry Hartgrove, Bob Maloney, Martin "Tex" Mathis, Larry mercer, Jeff Mohn, Richard Pait, Russell Pait, Ken Pruitt, Jerry Stafford, Tim Talbert and Jerry Thomas. Active duty servicemen included Lee Heaton, Army Reserve, Ian English, Air Force, and Shawn Sharpe, Navy.
