Elyssa Rivera and Brittney Roberts combined on the shutout for the Lady Raiders (1-1, 1-0).
“I felt like we came out flat in the first five to 10 minutes of the game,” Richmond coach Bennie Howard said. “I thought we were playing down to their level, which we have a tendency to do.”
Mollinedo opened the scoring for Richmond and Smith added her goal on an assist from Stephanie Martin to give the Lady Raiders a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Richmond recorded 10 shots on goal in the first half and 12 in the final half.
“I talked to them at halftime about how we needed to step up our game in the second half,” Howard said.
Hudson tallied her goals in the second half, one off an assist by Martin.
After playing just two games in the season’s first two-and-a half weeks, Richmond will play three games in three nights.
The Lady Raiders return to action tonight at home against Jack Britt in a MSEC match. The game was rescheduled after rain forced the contest to be postponed Monday. The game will begin at the conclusion of the junior varsity game, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
Plus, Richmond will play host to Lumberton Friday night, with the junior varsity contest slated to kick off at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game to immediately follow.
