The competition was held at the Cole Auditorium at Richmond Community College. Students in grades 6-8 competed in the tournament based on a list of pre-determined books. The teams read the books prior to the competition and then were asked questions based on the novels.
Teams competed in six rounds, with the winner being named based on cumulative scores.
Rockingham Middle School finished with a total of 49 points. Hamlet Middle School students placed second with 42 points. Ellerbe Middle and Rohanen Middle finished third and fourth, respectively. The students on the Rockingham Middle School Team will now represent Richmond County Schools at the middle school in the regional competition in Charlotte. The elementary school level competition is scheduled for April 9.
