Nicole Shaw Berry, 21, Blue Bird Lane, Hamlet, was killed when the vehicle she was driving on Boyd Lake Road went off the roadway to the right, overcorrected, ran off the road to the left, struck a fire hydrant, and then a tree, the patrol said. She was exceeding a safe speed on a curve near Rural Paved Road 1616.
The vehicle was traveling an estimated 80 mph in a 55 mph speed limit zone, the patrol said.
The patrol report indicated she was not wearing a seat belt.
The 1991 Buick she was driving received $2,300 damage.
She was taken to Sandhills Regional Medical Center.

Seven people were injured in four other motor vehicle accidents recently in Richmond County, the patrol said.
Tracy Lynette Livingston, 33, Laurel Hill, was injured at 1:20 p.m. March 6, on U.S. 74 east of Hamlet at the intersection with Peggy Mill Road. She was taken to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.
Her vehicle was involved in a collision at the intersection with one driven by Brian Keith Hatcher of Hickory Street, Rockingham.
Livingston was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
The 2005 Nissan she was driving received $5,000 damage; Hatcher’s 2000 Volkswagen, $2,500.

At 1:30 p.m. March 7 on N.C. 38 South, Hamlet, at Ridgeview Drive, Hamlet, Gary Quick Jr., 37, Walker Lane. Hamlet, was injured when his moped was involved in an accident with another vehicle.
He was taken to SRMC.
The driver of the other vehicle involved was Clyde Marshall Chavis of Peachview Drive, Hamlet. He was cited for driving while license revoked, failure to reduce speed and hit and run.
Quick’s 2006 moped received $50 damage.

Two people were injured in an accident at 1:46 p.m. March 10 on N.C. 177 north of Hamlet.
Jamie Monique Covington, 27, U.S. 1 North, Marston; and D. Jykir Covington, 4, were both taken to SRMC.
The 2004 Chevrolet she was driving received $11,000 damage.
The patrol said Covington was traveling north on N.C. 177 when she swerved to avoid a car slowing down, ran off the road to the left, overcorrected and overturned three times.

Three people were injured at 10:24 a.m. on Ellerbe Road, Rockingham, at the intersection with U.S. 220 north of Rockingham.
Hattie McLaughlin Fairley, 73, Green Lake Road, Ellerbe, was injured and taken by private vehicle to FHRMH.
In a car driven by Johnathan Davis Stephenson of North Lee Street, Rockingham, two passengers, Dustin Coble, 18, West Hamlet Avenue, Hamlet; and Scott Emmett Jordan, 31, Stilwell Street, Rockingham, were injured and both taken to FHRMH.
Stephenson was cited for failure to reduce speed, revoked registration tag and no vehicle insurance following a rear-end collision at a stop sign on Ellerbe Road with the Fairley vehicle, the patrol said.
The 1996 Chevrolet he was driving received $750 damage; Fairley’s 2007 Ford, $800.
