Beloved by so many, Mr. James Herbert Bream, 79, has gone to be with our beloved Lord, Jesus Christ, on Monday, November 19, 2012, surrounded by his family at his home in Hamlet. A lifetime member of St. James Catholic Church in Hamlet, he served as a child of God, setting an example for all who knew him. As well as serving God, he worked as a Boiler Maker in the Locomotive Shop at CSX for 20 years; volunteered with Habitat for Humanity; and kept up a successful plumbing business. We were blessed to have such a loving and committed father, grandfather and friend.

Mr. Bream is survived by his son, Tim Bream and wife Kathy; and daughters, Karen Capel and husband Paul Thomas; Teresa Kirkley and husband Robbie; and Kay Bream. Grandchildren, Jamie Bream, John Bream and fiancée Maggie Strickland; Amber Chavis and husband Larry; Echo Parks and husband Heath, Chance Capel and wife Bronwyn; Brandon Kirkley, Brandi Myers and husband Chris; and Miranda Hildreth. Also, 8 great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Ethan, Elijah, Dakota, Xaandria, Xander, Casen, and Levi. As well as his siblings, Ella and Chuck Carroway of AL; Raymond and Hazel Bream, Peggy and Joe Bowman, Donald and Kay Bream, Marvin and Joan Bream, and Katrine Izer , all of PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Catherine Scholl Newton Bream; his parents, Raymond G. and Margaret Bream; brothers, Bud Bream and Mervin Bream; sister, Jean Martin.

The family will receive friends at St. James Catholic Church in Hamlet from 6-8 pm on Friday, November 23rd. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, November 24th at St. James Catholic Church. Private graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Bream’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, Richmond County Hospice at 1119 N. US Hwy 1 Rockingham, NC 28379, or St. James Catholic Church at 1018 West Hamlet Ave. Hamlet, NC 28345.
