The Sandhills Children’s Center of Rockingham and Southern Pines sponsored the 16th annual Festival of Trees from Nov. 6 through Nov. 11, at the Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst.
The Festival of Trees provides an occasion for area designers to showcase their talents and merchandise before an audience of thousands. Significant to the success of the event is the broad appeal of the items available for auction with regard to design. The proceeds from the event were to benefit the children of the Sandhills Children’s Center.
The six-day celebration featured a silent auction, entertainment, as well as a Christmas Tree exhibit with more than 200 decorated trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses on display.
“It seemed to be very successful this year. We went on Wednesday for Ladies’ Night,” said Jan Stivers, with the Richmond Service League. “It appeared to be a great turn out.”
The Festival Benefit Gala offered a chance to ignite the holiday spirits with live entertainment and heavy hors d’ oeuvres. Many vendors participated in the Festival Marketplace, such as Mary Kay Cosmetics, The Tarheel Traveler and The Chocolate Nation.
“Festival of Trees is a shining example of the commitment that our community has to Sandhills Children’s Center, our children and our mission,” said Melanie Carnes, Center Director for the Rockingham Campus. “We are so thankful for all of the wonderful supporters and volunteers who make this event successful year after year.”
