The Lumber River Area Agency on Aging has a limited number of slots available for respite in Richmond County to provide services to family caregivers caring for a home-bound chronically ill, disabled or frail elderly adult, aged 60 years or older, having impairments in movement and mobility or with moderate to severe dementia that prevents them from taking care of themselves.

Respite is relief for caregivers who are in need of taking a short-term, temporary break. In-home assistance will be provided so that the caregiver can run errands, attend medical appointments, attend support group meetings, have time for rest and recuperation or for emergency situations.

Caregivers who are not receiving help through another program may be able to receive 20-50 hours of respite services on a case-by-case basis as funds remain available.

Call Kay Morman at 910-997-6807 or Anne C. Oglesby at 910-272-5080 for more information.
