Congressional leaders are skirting the issue, refusing to acknowledge the cause and continuing the ’same old, same old’ - spending like drunken sailors.
And our new President is signing everything that’s shoved at him.
Due to the inexperience of President Obama he has relied heavily on the advice of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid. Although both have done good things such as voting for the Patriot Act which is essential to the safety of Americans, and to send troops into Iraq which returned freedom to a nation by bringing down a cruel dictator, they can’t understand that thrift is essential for the well-being of Americans, including future generations.
Instead of thousands going to study pig odors, the growth of blueberries, and tattoo removal, which does not create jobs, it should have gone to reimburse the investors who lost their life’s savings through the neglect of others.
Our president should also stop the every day spending of some of his favorite people. Among them is Nancy Pelosi who, reportedly spends $3000 an hour to fly to and from work and to other places she chooses to visit. He should insist on a less-expensive mode of travel.
My generation made America stronger by demanding that each individual take responsibility for his actions and by defeating a would-be world dictator.
This generation is leaving this horrendous debt for the next five generations to pay.
This is unfair to our children, grandchildren and their children and grandchildren.
Where is that presidential candidate who proclaimed if he became president there would be “no pork spending”
And where are all those who were complaining about the Bush Administration’s national debt when we REALLY need them?

I find him to be down to earth and very successful at what he does.
I was forced to pay taxes on the two small pensions and CD interest that I received. SS was the only income that was not taxed until George Bush became president and age had nothing to do with it.
I returned to school at 70 to further my education and I did well, too. A's in accounting, English communication, however, math was a problem. I ended up with a 'C' average. When I graduated for a second and final time, Clinton was still president.
My remarks about the NG records stemmed from your insinuations that Fox published untrue statments. It was CBS who was caught forging doucments, not Fox and yet I have not heard you criticize them.
Fox statments are very easily verified if you really cared to do so.
I repeat, they have been polled as most trusted. But then, how would you know since you don't watch Fox.
I watch all except for CBS adn NBC. I've heard them misrepresent too often, and I never know whether or not to believe them
Hillary Clinton and Obama were treated just as fairly as McCain on Fox. Hillary stated Fox as one that was most fair.
Both Democrats and Republicans are employed there.

Never in the history of the country has a man had to re-write his own legacy. Bush has been a failure in every thing he ever tried to do. He was a failure as a son, a failure as a student, a failure as a businessman, and a failure as President of the United States. In 8 years his only accomplishment was the almost total destruction of the economic foundation of this great nation. He is blinded by his own illusions of grandeur. And there are only about 25% of the American population who think he was a great man. You are among the minority.
The rest of the world, except for a few in England, think he was an embarrassment to our nation. When he went to Canada there were people who wanted to have him arrested for War Crimes. The President of the United States an alleged War Criminal.
What kind of legacy is that to be proud of...how do you plan to cover that one up?

You need to learn to form sentences and paragraphs that are easily readable. Mashing every thing together into one long paragraph makes it very hard to follow your reasoning.
My guess is you are a "search and peck" typer. Nothing wrong with that, books have been written that way, but you need to learn to use the "shift" key to capitalize, the "space" key to separate, (Put two spaces between sentences), and the "caps lock" key to capitalize where needed.
Typing was one of my favorite classes in High School. I could type 70 words a minute in a ten minute test on a manual typewriter. I know I make typing mistakes in my comments, but I hope that what I write is easy to read.

To answer your question,I agree with Ron and with Bonnie On lots of issues as well as disagree with them both on lots of issues.I guess what I was trying to say ,and please read the post carefully as Ron did not. I respect all views ,it is how we learn and how we choose by hearing from many people on many fronts,but please note I blamed bush for the last 8 years of this mess ,yet Ron was so quick to say why not debate Bush who caused all this mess, when in fact if you read closely Ron and I are on the same page there. I am not nor have never been a rep,have been a democrat,but changed to independent a long time ago.I just think that as fellow citizens we should come together as one voice and have our points respected no matter what they are, do you feel that is a fair way for people to be? To respect each others views even if they differ? I sure hope so as I do enjoy your imput here and agree with you many many times.

And I lost a younger brother to cancer from Agent Orange. He was a Sea Bee and worked on the diesel trucks that hauled the stuff. He never thought anything about it until he developed every form of cancer known to man. It killed him in 13 days. And the Republican Senator from Michigan sent my mom a letter and denied any connection between Agent Orange and Cancer. And she was a Republican because her dad was a Republican. I was until I woke up.
And the tax breaks, or stimulus checks were a joke. And your tax break came as much from your age as it did from anything given you by the Bush administration. Of course, maybe you are one of those people making over $250 Thousand a year.

My youngest son joined the NG to stay out of Nam and I encouraged it. He would have been drafted and I already had one in Nam. There was nothing illegal about it.
Bush was more involved in the guard than my son, however, and Bush volunteered to go to Nam toward the end.
The "tax breaks" are for everyone and not just the wealthy, Ron - a fact that you conveniently leave out every time you say that. I should know. I got the Bush cut.
As I watch the news, read the magazine articles, and opinions expressed in newspapers it become quite apparent that a number of people think that the Ship of State of the United States of America is a row boat in a fishing pond. If a storm comes up you just turn the motor on, spin around and head for the safety of the shore.
It has taken us years for our country to get itself in this position. I think your Republicans are the blame and you think my Democrats are at fault. Actually, both are true.
But what is really to blame is the appathy of the American people. We have an attention span that is about as long as our little finger. We are more interested in who is winning on American Idol or which sports star is under investigation than we are with the people who really put money in our pocket, or take it out.
You seem to have decide that a good course of action would be to make it sound like President Obama has a collar around his neck like a dog with an invisible fence and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid hold the remote controls so that when they want him to stay within their agenda all they have to do is push a button.
Yet everyone who has been close to this administration so far says that President Obama is his own man. He not ony takes responsibility he immediately, if not sooner, takes the blame if something goes wrong. He said during and soon after the election that there would be mistakes made, that the road would not be smooth.
Your Republican friends haven't offered one logical suggestion to deal with the economic crisis other than more tax breaks for the very wealthy. Who did not create good paying jobs witht the tax money they got to keep. I know you aren't going to accept that but is no less true. And now they are all up in arms over some bonus money, as are the Democrats, and once again ignoring the crisis that grips this nation. Typical.

Ron, why don't you name those lies so everyone can check them out. Do you mean outright lies like the CBS 'forged documents' which I have never heard you mention, or is it normal mistakes like other networks sometimes do. When Fox makes an incorrect statement they immediately correct it.

If Obama will do what you said for veterans, I will forever be grateful, however he has alrady broken three very important promises he made duringin his campaign.
This President has said that our hero's, and their families, were going to be treated as they should be. No more living on food stamps or having to worry about losing their job because they had been deployed to many times with the National Guard. He even announced yesterday that a new hospital is being built at Camp Pendleton, CA.

Jethro, I get news from cnsn, NY Times, chicago tribune, Sun News, Washinton Post, Washinton Times, ABC and even CBS (the media that published false documents). I find that Fox News is the most accurate because they investigate every issue that they report. And, apparently, most people feel the same. They rated number one as the most trusted in 2008 polls.
In your own post it said that "President Obama listened to the genuine concerns expressed by the Veteran Service Organizations". So what if Pelosi was the one who made that statement. It was President Obama who made the decision that combat wounds to our soldiers are our responsiblity and not the responsiblity of health insurance that veterans pay for out of their own pocket.
