Police make arrest in ecstasy drug trafficking case

A Fayetteville woman has been arrested by the Rockingham Police Department after a traffic stop on charges of trafficking the drug ecstasy along with marijuana.

Renata Wilette Castra, 27, Fayetteville, was arrested on felony charges of trafficking in ecstasy, possession of ecstasy with intent to sell or deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to sell or deliver and maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances.

Her bond was set at $25,000. During the arrest, police seized five stars of ecstasy, 34 grams of marijuana, $109 and a vehicle valued at $10,000.

Castra was a passenger and was the owner of the vehicle.

Also arrested was the driver, Bobby Rae Little, 38, Jones-Magee Street, Dobbins Heights. He was issued a citation for simple possession of marijuana, having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and a seat belt violation for which he was stopped.

Other arrests by police include:

n Lerone McKinley Nicholson, 39, Ledbetter Road, Rockingham, was arrested on felony charges of possession of marijuana and maintaining a place for controlled substances, and misdemeanor charges of driving while license revoked, improper equipment and on an order for arrest on charges of breaking and entering and communicating threats.

Bond was set at $20,500. During the arrested, police seized 124 grams of marijuana and a vehicle valued at $5,000.

A passenger, Jamel Antwan Waddel, 31, Greensboro, was issued a citation on a charge of simple possession of marijuana.

n William Brothel Bostick Jr., 23, Pine Cone Circle, Ellerbe, was arrested on felony charges of possession of marijuana and maintaining a place for controlled substances and misdemeanor charges of driving while license revoked and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

Bond was set at $5,000. During the arrest, 45.6 grams of marijuana were seized.

n Timothy James Hagele, 29, Salem, Va., was issued a citation on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

n Timothy Eugene Jennings, 26, South Grove Avenue, Rockingham, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault on a female and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $1,000.

n Samuel Howard McLendon, 55, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree trespass and on an order for arrest for failing to appear in court on a charge of misdemeanor larceny. His bond was set at $1,000.

n Carlos Butler, 33, 3rd Avenue, Aleo, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of shoplifting. Bond was set at $500.

n Four people were arrested in connection with a disturbance at a restaurant on U.S. 1 South, Rockingham. Shawanda Swinnie, 19, Cauthen Drive, Rockingham, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault and injury to personal property. Bond was set at $5,000.

Sheritia Quick, 25, Cauthen Drive, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of failing to disperse and resisting arrest. Her bond was set at $5,000.

Octavius Markel McRae, 19, Hamer Mill Road, Rockingham, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of failure to disperse and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $10,000.

Marce Antonina Byrd, 19, Rockingham, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of failure to disperse and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $10,000.

n Mario Lavon Spencer, 21, Wadesboro, was issued a citation on charges of simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and no seat belt.

n Antonio Sherald Broady, 19, Evans Street, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of assault on a female. He was held in Richmond County Jail until a judge set bond.

Incidents reported to Rockingham police include:

Recently two men tried to leave a store in the Falling Creek Plaza Shopping Center with a false receipt.

As they tried to leave, store employees alerted a door checker about the false receipt.

When questioned by the checker, one of the men grabbed her by her arm.

A customer in the store came to her defense demanding the suspect not put his hands on the checker before the suspect snatched the receipt and left the store.

n A compressor valued at $7,500 was stolen from a business on East Broad Avenue, Rockingham.

n A Rowland woman staying at a motel on South Hancock Street, Rockingham, told police someone did $200 damage to her vehicle.

n Tools valued at $862 were stolen from an outbuilding on 2nd Avenue, Pee Dee, Rockingham.

n Someone fired a paint ball pellet at a vehicle parked on Palisades Circle, Rockingham, causing $50 damage.

n Someone broke into a vehicle parked at a business on East Washington Street, Rockingham, doing $2,000 damage and stealing $5,500.
