Helen Starling, 84, of Hoffman, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at her home.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m. at Hoffman Baptist Church, with Dr. Bill Maness and Rev. Terry McInnis officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.

She was born Sept. 29, 1928, in Harnett County, a daughter of the late John and Dilcy Ruffin. Starling was a member of Hoffman Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Murd Franklin Starling.

Surviving are her daughters, Fran Sims of Wilmington and Brenda Lantz of Sanford; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a brother, Harvey Ray Ruffin; and two sisters, Doris Allen of Raleigh and Mavis Starling of Fayetteville.
