Michael Gary Hill, 71, of Ellerbe, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 8, at New Life Church with Pastor Gary Richardson officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at 106 McIntosh St., Ellerbe.

Hill was born March 5, 1941, in New York, a son of the late Mary Smith. He was a member of New Life Church and had been employed as a boiler maker. Hill was also the owner and operator of Fisherman’s Corner Tackle Shop and had sold tackle at the flea market. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bennie Lou Cobbler Hill.

Surviving are step-sons, Terry Thompson of Ellerbe, Ken Thompson of Hamlet; stepdaughters, Ann Lyerly of Rockingham, Pamela Howard and Deborah Abbott, both of Ellerbe; 11 step-grandchildren, 24 step-great-grandchildren and eight step- great great-grandchildren.
