Phillip E. Monteith, 80, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, in Greenville.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at The Memorial Baptist Church, Greenville.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
Monteith, a native of Hamlet, was born Dec. 17, 1931. He was a graduate of Hamlet High School and received a B.S. degree from UNC Chapel Hill. He worked as a consultant in the nuclear power industry for many years, retiring in 2004. He had been a resident of Greenville for the past 19 years, where he was a member of The Memorial Baptist Church. He volunteered with the Pitt County Schools as a reader and with Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed photography.
Monteith is survived by his wife, Peggy Mitchell Monteith; sons, Mitch Monteith and wife, Lynn, and Keith R. Monteith, all of Rock Hill, S.C.; and three grandchildren.
