Dear Editor,

A HSRC Animal Shelter meeting was held last summer with Rick Sago, expressing great concern regarding the care the animals were receiving and the running of the shelter. The Board had taken over and the previous staff was let go. The Board was not interested in learning how the paperwork was done and reports filed, the daily running of the shelter.

It was felt the shelter was doomed for failure. But, Mr. Sago was just not interested in what was going on. When the previous staff was in charge it was organized, animals were well taken care of and the shelter kept clean. Many visitors said that this was one of the nicest shelters they had ever visited.

The public constantly donated food and other items for the animals. There were people who would write a check for the shelter on a regular basis. Sure there were tough times but the staff managed to keep going. Now it is over, no one knew how to run the shelter and the poor animals are the ones who suffer.
