SOUTHERN PINES — Pinecrest defeated Richmond Senior 25-11, 25-11, 25-22 in a Southeastern Conference volleyball contest Tuesday night.
The loss was the third in a row for the Raiders. Richmond is now 8-6 on the season and 1-3 in league play.
“I was impressed with how we played,” Richmond coach Shellie Wimpey said. “Pinecrest is a very strong team and we never go down on ourselves. We hung in there.”
The Raiders will return to action 6 p.m. Thursday when SEC rival Scotland visits Raider Gymnasium.
RSHS tennis contest canceled
ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior girls tennis match with Lee County was called off because of rain in the area.
Richmond coach Paula York said the contest will not be rescheduled.
The Raiders (1-6) are slated to return to the courts at 4 p.m. today when they play host to South View in a nonconference clash. Richmond will return to Southeastern Conference action 4 p.m. Thursday when it travels to Hoke County.
