Mrs. Steele was born Oct. 23, 1915 in Moore County to Donald Thomas McDonald and Alice Cadell McDonald. She was a homemaker and also a member of Marcus United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Nathaniel Steele on Dec. 5, 2007 and also by a son Ralph Earl Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Marcus United Methodist Church with Rev. Myron Dice, Rev. Barbara Dice and Rev. Don Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Nathaniel Steele of Jackson Springs; a daughter, Shirley Steele Craven of Norman; sister, Pearl Lovelace of Reidsville; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will see friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the residence on NC Hwy. 73 East.
