Ruth Quick Patterson, 96, 724 Osborne Road, Rockingham, died on September 1, 2012, at her home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Gregory Freeman and pastor Rev. Larkin Hancock will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Wake will be held Friday, Sept. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 East Washington St., Rockingham. Public viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 7, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Service of Rockingham.

Patterson was born in Wolf Pit Township in Richmond County on June 16, 1916, to the late Jessie and Mania Quick. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charlie Patterson, four sons, Clarence, Jessie, Charles and Donald and one daughter, Sarah Little.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann McMillian of Clinton, Md., four sons, James Patterson of Goldsboro, Robert Patterson of El Paso, Texas, Lacy and William Patterson of Rockingham, 32 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
