Alice Cameron Reaves, 88, of Newton, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012 at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born Nov. 16, 1923 in Hamlet, she was the daughter of the late Albert Alston Reaves and Favette Dolene Jones. Alice was a graduate of Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, and School of Library Science, University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She was a retired assistant librarian with the North Carolina Supreme Court Library in Raleigh. Reaves was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hickory.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Henry L. Reaves and a sister, Mary Ellen Reaves.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Marjorie Reaves; nieces and nephews, Deborah and her husband, Dr. Dale Spencer, of Taylorsville, Dr. Ray Reaves and wife, Peggy, of Newton, and Melonie Humphries and husband, Bryan, of Staunton, VA; seven great nieces and nephews; and three great-great nieces and nephews.
